If you look after pre-school children, why not come along and join us?

The Mothers' Union Prayer

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, who gave marriage to be a source of blessing, we thank you for family life, with all its joys and sorrows. May we know your presence and peace in our homes, fill them with your love and use them to your glory. Bless all who are married and every parent and child. Pour out upon us your Holy Spirit, that we may truly love and serve you. Bless the members of the Mothers' Union throughout the world, unite us in prayer and worship, in love and service, that, strengthened by your grace, we ma y seek to do your will; through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

Bellringing

The Bells at All Saints

There is a long tradition of ringing at All Saints. At the time of the Archdeacon's visit of 1685 he was able to write "five bells in good order".

Two of these bells have survived to the present day. The three dates from 1637, and is inscribed "William Lande made me", and the two was cast in 1655 by Anthony Bartlett. In 1767 the treble and four were either replaced or recast by the Whitechapel Bell Foundry and in 1814 the same was done to the tenor. In 1814 a small gallery was erected within the tower posts but this was not popular with the ringers of the day. At the next major overhaul of 1904/5 the wooden frame which contains the bells was replaced by an iron one, and the gallery was removed, making it a ground floor ring once more. In 1979 the bells were rehung and the plain bearings replaced by ball bearings, making the bells easier to ring.
